No Title (Molly) by John Maus

Since the movie ‘Drive’ came out last year I have grown quite an obsession for 80s music made today; ‘College’ are an obvious first choice with their now iconic track ‘A Real Hero’. It’s fair to say 80s music is in a different league when compared to 80s style music, where no amount of cocaine, vodka, high-waist swimwear, or hair product could recreate the era. But there’s something about electric drum kits with its high clap snare, snyths with the low sweeps and processed vocals which makes me want to drop the sunroof (in the convertible I don’t have), throw on some Ray-Bans and drive down Miami Beach. This track is another one which has already made it on my ‘Summer 2012’ playlist.

No Title (Molly)’, by American composer John Maus, is an 80s style track with some edgy flare; the synth pads give the song a certain mystery and sexiness, and the keyboard solos throughout remind me of a few ‘A-ha’ classics. The vocals are slightly over processed, in my opinion, making you feel as though your listening to the song with  half your headphone cable pulled out, distorting one channel. Overall, I love this and want more. I look forward to hearing John Maus’ new releases in the future. Make sure you check out John Maus’ website for some of his older tracks and for news of his new releases.
